FMECA Detection

A detection coverage analysis can be consulted in FMEA > Detection, which is automatically generated from the Failure Rates set in the FMECA table and using the Detection methods column and the Mission Phase.

The table presents the Failure Rate as the sum of the FR of each of the present FM on the system FMECA table. Then, if a FM has more than one associated end effect, it is only taken into account once.

The table is built using the detection options that the user can set in the Settings (FMECA > Settings). Hidden and Dormant detections always appear as options.

Warning

Mission phases added by the user will not appear in this summary. Therefore, Operational, Maintenance and Not used phases cannot be removed from the available options. If new phases are set by the user, their contribution will not appear on this table.

As it can be seen on the image above, the user can select the Failure Rate unit from fph to % or viceversa by using the button on the top-right side of the page

Note that is usually important to have >95% of detection for FM with effect on the operational phase. This is why this row is highlighted on the table.

Note

No Effect FMs are the ones where the words “no” and “effect” are present in the End Effect. No detected FMs are the ones with None, Hidden or Dormant detection.
